Some useful links for Doctors
Ireland is an island separated from Great Britain by the North Channel, the Irish Sea and St George’s Channel. It is the third-largest island in Europe and the twentieth largest on Earth. Ireland is divided between the Republic of Ireland (officially named Ireland) and Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom.
A report by the Irish Post in July 2015 states that Irish doctors are among the highest paid in the world. The OECD released data showing that doctors earned on average €164,494 in 2014. The Irish earn one of the highest figures internationally, and ranks just behind Australia and Luxembourg. However, Ireland currently has the highest number of doctors working abroad with 47.5% of their doctors outside the country. Reasons for this include a better work-life balance available abroad, excessive working hours and an uncertain career pathway. The UK is one of the most appealing destinations for Irish doctors as the UK addresses the above issues better. Irish doctors are extremely hard working and are therefore very well received in the UK.
